There’s case to be made for either source being better. The new 4K HDR has grain removed and it honestly looks a little strange and revisionist for an older movie, but it still retains picture detail rather than looking too waxy (as opposed to some other bad de-grained restorations like Terminator 2 or Predator 4K).
I kind of like the color grading in the blu-ray better. I’m not mad about this new transfer because it’s the director’s decision and previous versions still exist but I do miss that filmic look.

But on the slider option which is the botched restored version vs the new version? On the left or right? I actually prefer the grainy version on the right and using VLC I always have the grain option switched to max.
I do admire the perfectionism here… like with all the experiments done to on the first season of Walking Dead
