HMAX is abbreviation of HBO Max (source)
WEB-DL is print quality
DDP5.1 is speaker arrangement

x264 is video encoding

Why is the 1080p x264 6CH only 1.88 GB? Movie duration is 1h50min.
For an action movie, higher bitrate encode for that duration should be around 2.5 GB>, no? Or is HMAX not a good enough source?
because bitrate was not calculated based on movie’s genre. Please, teach us only if you really understand about what you saying.
I know you are being sarcastic. I was just asking a question.
For cartoons(example, Invincible) you can put low bitrates and low sized encodes and it will cause no visual problems(artifacts, pixelation, grain etc). But for dark scenes and action sequences the higher the bitrate the better it looks on a big screen. Difference may not be noticeable on a small device(less than 40 inch tv).
I’m definitely not experienced enough to teach a veteran enocoder like you. I was only active for a small period during 2009-2011 in the encoding scene. When 720p x264 AC3 encodes by x264-bb, HD-BB, HD-UNIT3D was the trend.
Because CRF test shows that the movie doesn;t need that much of bitrate. I doesn’t matter how much action sequence, the consideration of bitrate was based on amount of grain and complexity of pictures. If the movie was shot on digital camera with clean picture it won’t need that much of bitrate.
And believe me, I have tested this method on 40+ inch tv screen.
