It’s weird why Pahe is sometimes like this. There’s a lot movies that deserved to rip or new 1080p rip but instead they wasted their effort on this.

#1: For you both, the term “rip” is reserved for creating a digital version or an extraction from an original physical media source – a DVD, a Blu-ray, etc for examples. It’s also been extended to include a digital version or an extraction from an original online source as well – an online streaming sites, for example. In both cases, the digital versions or extractions are at a lossless or nearly lossless level.
#2: Encoding (also called transcoding) is taking one of those rips and converts its format(s), resolution(s), and/or bitrate(s) to other values other than the lossless or nearly lossless original. Unlike a rip, this process often uses compression and therefore the end result is a non-lossless version.
#3: Re-encoding is taking a previous encode or transcoded digital version or extraction and further changing its format(s), resolution(s), and/or bitrate(s). Unlike a rip but like an encode, this process also often uses compression and therefore the end result is a non-lossless version.
What media is typically found at Pahe is nearly always of the #3: Re-encode type.
For each re-encode here, a named source is listed, as well as its format(s), resolution(s), and/or bitrate(s) of said source. These sources listed are of the #2: Encodes type.
The process by which those #2: Encodes were created from the original physical or online original source(s) are of #1: Rip type.
In the name source section, there are attributes in the file naming to give credit to the group or groups who were responsible for either the encode, the rip, or both.
The re-encodes here are Pahe is a huge undertaking. For some releases, sometimes different rip sources are utilized and produce many different re-encoded results at different resolution(s) and bitrate(s). The re-encodings require processing power on a large scale and are not instantaneous – even with the best of hardware. Therefore, the “job” of the encoding of releases often get put into a queue – essentially, added to a list or line of batch processing each job is the list/line, then beginning the next after each current job is completed.
In the Discord, I’ve seen a screenshot or two of the queue sometimes posted. It is not a short list, and (again) not a small undertaking.
There’s nothing wrong with not knowing any of this. It’s very excusable. Many are ignorant of the work it takes. But being both ignorant and arrogant about the process, the time, and the effort it takes is not excusable.
