Whats the diffrent between 1080p x265 and 1080p x264 ? and what is better ? Its Ari Aster so i watch it
x264 is better for any quality
x265 is compressed and a little bit less quality
x265 is a little more efficient than x264, so can carry about the same level of picture quality as an x264 file but in a smaller size. But in my tests with other movies, I think it looks just marginally, barely, a little more compressed and not as good. But to such a small degree it’s probably imperceptible for the most part.
x265 also has lesser compatibility with newer devices since it’s a relatively newer format. Just depends on what you plan to watch it on.
I think x264 is the way to go if file size isn’t much of an issue for you, but x265 not bad.

x265 beats x264 at lower bit rates keeping the file-size 20-30% smaller x264 but keeping the quality. However, at higher bit rates, there is little difference in quality & overhead of x265 encoding/decoding is not justifiable over x264.
wrt this film/movie with slow scenes, above 1080p encodes , 2.25GB x265 vs 2.75GB x264; you’ll not notice any difference with naked eye.
