no time to write long elaborate review – so writing a bit here – spoilers included –
CGI – above average , not Transformers level or Avatar level of course.
Plot – semi-loose, quite a few gaps
Direction & Script – Average or Below Average. JLo warns the team about to strike the terrorist AI on an alien planet but immediately mocked and ridiculed for it. When was being careful a bad idea. World’s most wanted AI terrorist – all you get is a single mission ship, no relay points, no backups, no outer orbit warning relay ships to ask for backups, no clear mapping of the alien planet pre-mission task.
And they get attacked even before they land, the soldiers who were just smirking and making fun of a civilian telling them that the killer AI terrorist hiding on an alien planet is not expecting them, even though he sent one of his elites on Earth in the present day which 28 years later from the beginning of the story, and no one really stops to think that he might be luring them out, or if nothing else had a huge amount of time preparing in advance to fortify his hiding place.
So whole team gets wiped out, the commander gets captured alive, and JLo the civilian analyst who doesn’t trust machines is the only one left to drive the story forward.
Doesn’t listen to the mechsuit’s AI’s advice, places beacon, somehow hyper-advanced mech that can scan 300 trillion lines of code several dozen times to recheck them in 2 seconds doesn’t have a good enough telescopic lens to check the enemy base from a safe distance, they place the beacon, but JLo wants to get close to see what they are doing, and by the time they are done looking they are already getting hacked, and being swarmed, a moment ago they were near the edge of the base surrounded by thick jungle, now they are in plain suit literally couple feet away from the perimeter and you’re surprised that they found you? Can this be any more contrived?
