His pal Steven Spielberg also re-edited his movie E.T.
by replacing 1982 E.T. puppet scenes with E.T. CGI.
Though he admitted he regretted later on.

Thanks man! I was simply curious. I have the Despecialized versions of the original trilogy. Those releases are the closest thing to the “Original Theatrical” releases, basically 99% of what people saw in the movies when the films came out, with improved and fixed picture quality and audio. For example, at the end of the ROTJ, Sebastian Shaw appears with Alec Guinness and Yoda, not Hayden Christensen, etc.

But i think the best quality of the
untouched prints from the original release
(let say 99%) that we still could get today is
LaserDisc 1993 version at Ebay.
Simply transferred the films to the digital file
for preserving the originality purpose,

But to be honest Prequel trilogy is the most
embedded in my heart from all its saga,
simply because its the highest achievement,
the pinnacle or most ambitious
of George Lucas’ vision as an artist,
especially as a director.
He was obviously pushed
the boundaries, pushed the limits
of his special effect & sound effect companies,
ILM & Skywalker sound.
Same thing with Peter Jackson with his
The Lord of the Rings trilogy & King Kong.
