Hey, do you ever plan to use Opus instead of eac3 and AAC? I’m asking this because Opus is more economical in terms of bandwidth usage without a huge loss in quality.

the difference is hardly worth it.
most piracy and torrent sites use eac3 and aac widely across wide genres, live action, and anime and others.
this is best for compatibility for most people as well.
Most people who encode anime already use Opus. Recently, a Mr. Tentsaw appeared, using Opus instead of eac3 and AAC for movies. Even Edge2020 recently used Opus for a series. I believe that over time, Opus will become more preferable to AAC. Regarding compatibility, I think it’s very unlikely that a device running HEVC 10-bit won’t be able to play Opus. Of course, it’s not universally compatible like AAC and MP3.
Just because new thing appears doesn’t mean we have to use it.

I completely agree! AV1 is a very new codec compared to HEVC. Technically, it would be much superior to HEVC, it would retain more details for a much smaller size, but almost all AV1 I’ve seen always seem to have a lack of sharpness.
