The film itself was good. Great casting and acting everything done well but it really just wasnt for me. They string the audience along with a 5 sec clip of a mystery murder and then fail to really dig in, it was what you saw in the opening nothing more, nothing supernatural yet they had the fire scenes played in reverse and very ominously as if there was more to it (very cheap trick, almost a red herring). Also the title could have been anything, you never visit Nightmare Alley or find out why the film is called that. The foreshadowing of his fate was pretty much the only thing they did well storywise but sets and locations everything looked great there just wasnt enough meat imo but others might feel different. I feel like this was more of a nostalgia trip than anything else. Old-timers will love the amount of cigarettes smoked from under a hat and atop an overcoat in the shadows.. honestly (legit not making fun about this) the film might have done better in black and white with added old film effects. Then the vibe would have felt right for me. 6/10
Spoilers: I thought Bradly Coop was gonna pull a ruthless heist with all those spy moves and the key copying, a crazy double-cross (or insurance) but nope it was just for information and he just trusted this woman with all his money for some reason.
These sort of movies are done to indoctrinate women, to think they should be “smart” in same way the the psycho psychologist who was abuses was…
