Isn’t the aspect ratio off on this release? In the cinemas it was originally 2.39:1. This one is 2.25:1.

No. Not “off”.
Do some reading on 2.35:1 (yes, that’s the correct value for this conversation) versus 2.39:1 – where each originated, why, when, etc. It’s actually quite an involved answer.
Then understand that during the conversion to home media, sometimes slight letterboxing or slight anamorphic manipulation is added/subtracted to theatrical releases in that home media conversion process, and not always in the same way for all content.
Finally add in that encoders often remove the letterboxing to maximize the data used to encode the actual content and not just “blank black bars” and/or some additional anamorphic manipulation as well (look up Mod16, square pixels, etc). Which often yields slight alterations to the final aspect ratio.
