Some of the releases from Tekno3d a.k.a. VISIONPLUSHDR-X are fake HDR. It includes this Fight Club and the previous Avatar. They upscale 1080p SDR source to 4K HDR. It is like transferring an MP3 to FLAC.
but it look so much better than regular bluray , so why not….
It’s not amateur upscaling job like you think. Nowhere near as converting MP3 to FLAC.
Fun fact: most of 4K bluray were upscaled from 2K scan. Also, did you even try it first? They have included comparison for people like you

Keep uploading 2160p for movies with imdb score of 8.5+, when there are those copies of course

if it compared with UHD Remux source
(which is relatively limited option).
But on the other hand,
i think @BayHarborButcher
has enough experiences in searching
a good sources, especially UHD source.
From my perspective…
that guy (@BayHarborButcher)
has a “good standard”
probably almost idealist one in
selecting sources.
He even uses a “hybrid” tecnique
if he think the sources aren’t good enough.
The main reason why he chooses
“tekno3d source” are
its providing more sources
& its also probably a better one.
So its all about….
opportunities, chances & stability.
& i can totally understand that.
