dead link on GD and what is open matte?
“open matte” should imply that the mattes (black spaces) would be removed from the top and bottom of the original 16:9 film (which gave it its thin 2.35:1 aspect ratio) to display the full screen video in the 16:9 aspect ratio. This is not the case with this particular release! This release has instead cropped off the right and left sides of the original 2.35:1 video in order to falsely produce a full 16:9 AR… Instead of revealing more of the screen, it has removed more!
I would love to see a copy of the full video released here that hasn’t had the sides chopped off.
Actually, it depends on the scene. In some scenes, the sides have been cropped, while in others more video has been revealed on the top/bottom.
The folder in the 1080p Mega link is empty. Could you please review?
