Time for some education, Magz.
Original physical media, original WEB-DL, WEBRips, etc are 1280×720 and 1920×1080, which are both an AR (aspect ratio) of 16:9. However, the content of many films/TV/etc bas an OAR (original aspect ratio) with much different aspect ratios – many much wider, such as 2.35:1. This is why content in the theatres is shown on a much wider screen.
When content is released and converted to physical media, WEB-DL, WEBRips, etc black bars are added to convert different OARs to 16:9 AR. In the case of 2.35:1 to 16:9 – which is one of the more popular examples – the black bars are added to the top and bottom. This is called letterboxing. Encoders take that original 16:9 with the black bars and crop it, removing the black bars. They do this because encoding the black bars in each frame takes up file space. Ergo, you end up with 720p content which has less than 720 vertical lines and 1080p content which has less than 1080 vertical lines. It’s STILL 720p and 1080p content however, since it has 1280 and 1920 horizontal lines.
who the hell use full 1920×1080 on movies? we use black bar for cinematic experience
Who the hell cares what resolution this movie comes in. Here’s the movie. Woody Harrelson coaches the retard’s basketball team and in the process discovers that he should hate them for being ugly and retarded, but that he should hate all the other people for not loving them and looking past their uselessness.
